5A baseball officials decided to shuffle the schedule for opening day of the state tournament and the move was brilliant as all four first round games have been completed before the expected rain.

Instead of playing four games all at Memorial Stadium, 5A officials moved two games to Capital High as well and scheduled all games for early starts to beat an afternoon forecast of rain, rain and more rain.

At Memorial Mountain View blanked Madison 5-0 and Eagle followed with a 12-3 win over Lewiston.

At Capital High it was Rocky Mountain over Boise 10-0 in 5-innings and Capital held off a 7th inning rally by Highland to beat the Rams 8-7.

Officials say they will now look towards Friday's weather forecast to see if they can beat the odds again. The semi finals will pair Mountain View vs. Eagle and Capital against Rocky Mountain both games to be played at Memorial Stadium times dependent on the weather.

The 5A State Championship game is 7 p.m. Saturday which is expected to be cool but with no rain.

Meantime at the 4A State Baseball Tournament at Vallivue it was Bonneville over Kuna 8-0.
