Boise State junior Derrick Alston scored 23 points leading Boise State past UTEP 72-67 on Christmas Day. The Broncos finished a successful 2-1 run at the Diamond head Classic and Alston was named to the All-Tournament team.

Alston averaged 23-7 points per game during the tournament, that's 71 total points, the most scored by any player.

Alston got some help along the way as Abu Kigab made his Boise State debut on the island. Kigab, a transfer from Oregon wasn't eligible until December 21st and yesterday posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Local Boise State fans will get their chance to see Alston and Kijab as well as the rest of the Broncos inaction Saturday when they host Cal-State Northridge at 4pm.

Boise State is currently 8-5 on the season. By the way, Saturday is also the Boise State coat drive. Fans are asked to bring and donate a new or gently use coat and received a discounted admission.
