The sun set on a great season of skiing Sunday as Bogus Basin Ski area shutdown the lifts and they won't be coming to life for any bonus weekends as some skiers had hoped.

Bogus Basin still has a snow depth of 75 inches at the snow marker mid-slope and they received 4 inches of new snow overnight with a daytime high expected in the 30's.

While that may sound like a January or February snow report, it's an April 15th report and according to Bogus Basin officials skiers and snowboarders have turned in their winter gear for bikes and golf clubs, fishing poles and other warmer weather fun gear.

The number of skiers on the hill doesn't justify adding a bonus weekend, the cost of operation vs. low skier count doesn't make common sense of any cents!

While it seems winter won't go away in the mountains the extended forecast paints a different picture. 70 degrees by Thursday and 77 by Friday, temperatures like that will take a bite out of the snowpack in a hear beat.

So, it's official, the ski season for 2018-19 is done but before you know it Bogus Basin will fire up the snow makers and we could be skiing again by Thanksgiving.
