When Boise States leading scorer Chandler Hutchison hit his head on the floor and was pulled from the Iowa State game during last weeks Puerto Rico Tipoff Tournament his teammates went into momentary shock!

They recovered and took the Cyclones to the wire before losing. Hutchison was placed in concussion protocol and it was no surprise to the team when Hutch wasn't cleared to play Saturday night against Loyola-Marymount.

In short they had to find a way to win with their senior leader. Getting off to an 11 point lead was a great start but then the team went cold. Loyola-Marymount not only erased the 11 point deficit but took a six point lead. A 17 point turn around was like a slap in the face and there was no Hutchison to  the rescue.

That's when the Broncos dug in. They hit back to back three pointers to tie the game at 40-40 and didn't stop there. BSU went on a 33-4 run and improved to 5-1 on the year with a 68-48 win.

Tuesday night the Broncos host Chicago-Loyola, a 7-0 team among the favorites in the Missouri Valley conference.

No word if Chandler Hutchison will be available for that game but now the Broncos understand that while they'd really like to have #15 in the game, if not, they can get the job done. That's half the battle.
