Boise State Receivers Ranked 31st by Athlon Sports

Boise State feels it has a pretty good receiving corp for the 2019 football season but like everything else in college football, the strength of a receiving group is subject to debate.

Athlon Sports just released it's list of the top 35 receiving corps in college football and Boise State is 31st..

The criteria Athlon Sports used for ranking receiving groups was depth, overall talent, production, level of competition and projected output.

With that in mind, Alabama was ranked 1st followed by Clemson, Oklahoma, USC and Ohio State.

If you follow Boise State or are a fan of the Broncos who know BSU has depth. Players like John Hightower, Khalil Shakir, Octavius Evans, CT Thomas and a bunch of young players still hoping to make their mark in 2019.

At first the ranking looks harsh but but then you consider Boise State is the only Mountain West team in the Top 35 with Oregon State 32nd and Oregon 35th.

Depth wise, Hightower, Shakir and Evans all struggled with injuries last year so trying to rank Boise State any higher based on depth is tough.

As for projected output, that's tough to determine as well because Boise State does not have a proven quarterback to get them the ball.

Brett Rypien's four years have past and now Chase Cord, also susceptible to injury and true freshman Hank Bachmeier are the unproven, yet two best bet's to replace Rypien.

Despite opening at Florida State, the Broncos overall season level of competition has always been subject to ridicule when compared to Alabama, Oklahoma and the like.

So I think being ranked 31st, the only Mountain West team in the poll and in the company of USC (4), Washington State (9),Colorado (14), Washington (17), Oregon State (32) and Oregon (35), is a pretty good stamp of approval that the Boise State wide receiving corp certainly has the potential to rock the college football world in 2019.
