The College of Idaho 2019 football season came to a close Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa, a disappointing 14-6 loss to Grand View in the NAIA Playoff quarter finals.

Despite the loss, it was a season to remember for the College of Idaho. Along the way the Coyotes went 10-0 in the regular season and rose the number 5 in the national NAIA rankings. The Yotes extended their winning streak to 18 games dating back to last year and strung together an amazing 8 consecutive wins on the road.

Save for a couple of bad breaks, the Coyotes might still be playing. Grand View was ranked 4th in the nation, 12-0 and playing at home yet for the nmost part the Coyotes outplayed the Vikings on every level.

C.of I. had more total yards, 335 to 271, more first downs 18 to 12 and they controlled the clock with just over 34 minutes of possession to 25 for Grand View.

Still, it wasn't enough and when the Vikings stopped the Coyotes on a 4th and 1 from the Viking 13 yard line with three minutes to play, it was game over.

Of special note on the 2019 season has to be the play of quarterback Darius James Peterson who finished his College of Idaho career with 10,319 total yards.....6,906 passing and 3,413 rushing, all school records.

Another record breaker was kicker Kyle Mitchell who finished the season with 15 made field goals and 100 total points both school records.

When all was said and done the Coyotes finished the season 11-1 and that is a season to remember!
