Destiny Slocum may have a taken a little while to find her lane after graduating Mountain View in Meridian and the folks in Corvallis are happy Slocum's path led right to Oregon State.

Slocum, now a red-shirt junior guard for the Beavers, led Oregon State to a 75-46 win over Utah State over the weekend scoring 17 points and dishing out 6 assists. That's the kind of performance OSU fans have come to expect from Slocum who has helped the Beavers to a 9-0 record and number 4 national ranking!

The 9-0 start is the best since the 2014-15 Oregon State team went 10-0, a milestone the 2019-20 Beavers are expected to meet and surpass while in Hawaii this week where they'll play Northern Arizona tomorrow.

Local Treasure Valley residents know the Slocum story. Following her storied high school career at Mountain View she chose to play college ball at Maryland. As a freshman with the Terps she actually put a scare into the powerful UCONN Huskies with some timely shooting as a freshman.

But Maryland wasn't the right fit and Slocum decided to sit out a year while she found that fit. Oregon State fit like Cinderella's slipper and Slocum has been shooting and passing the ball ever since.

Now that she has figured out the coaches system, Slocum is all the more effective and dangerous. When not scoring, she simply sets up her teammates to be successful.

Slocum played 32 minutes against Utah State and when she was on the bench there wasn't much resting as she was just as much in the game as if back on the floor.

Being 9-0 and ranked 4th in the nation is exactly why Slocum went to Oregon State. She saw the potential and has become an integral factor in the Beavers goal of a Pac 12 Championship, even a run at the National Crown.

There is no question, Destiny Slocum has found her lane!
