Last weeks 35-27 win over Eastern Washington was a sweet win for the Idaho Vandal football team but it would have been sweeter had it been a Big Sky Conference game.

Due to a quirk in scheduling EWU and Idaho weren't scheduled to play a conference game in 2019 but since both had an open date they decided to play anyway this year.

While not an official conference game it more than proved the 2-2 Vandals are capable of vying for a Big Sky crown and that quest begins Saturday at Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Northern Colorado is 0-4 following a 14-6 loss to South Dakota in which their quarterback Milo Hall was sacked 5 times.

Following Idaho's win over EWU head coach Paul Petrino named his son Mason as the Vandals starting quarterback and while the younger Petrino has basically started all Idaho games this year now he's officially the go to guy!

Kickoff Saturday is at 1 p.m. with the pregame at noon on sports radio 630 The Fan.

The College of Idaho is coming off a bye week and will take their 3-0 record and number 10 NAIA ranking to Billings for a showdown with the 1-2 Battlin' Bears of Rocky Mountain.

RM won the Frontier Conference Championship in 2018 with a 7-3 league record but are off to a shaky start coming off a 38-7 loss to Montana Western.

The Coyotes are just 7-10 overall coming off bye weeks.

The Idaho State Bengals open Big Sky play hosting Portland State in a 2:05pm kickoff at Holt Arena in Pocatello. The Vikings come to town with a 2-2 record which includes losses at Arkansas and at 15th ranked Boise State.

The Vikings took Arkansas to the wire before losing 20-13 and while Portland State scored first against Boise State, the Broncos won that game 45-10.

Since opening the season with a win over Western Colorado the Bengals have dropped roads games at Utah and Northern Iowa.

Just for the record, Boise State is idle this weekend before traveling to UNLV October 5th.
