Like their mascot, the Mustang, the Eagle football team, likes to run. In fact they're rushing for 346 yards a game by far the most in 5A. (FYI: 4A Vallivue tops all schools with 476 rushing yards a game)

Eagle is led by it's quarterback Ben Ford who has 10 rushing touchdowns and averages nearly 9 yards a carry.

Ford however is not the only runner the Mountain View Mavericks, 3-1 and ranked 3rd, will have to stop tonight when they collide with number two two Eagle in the McDonald's game of the week on 630 The Fan.

Charlie Baker averages nearly 10 yards a carry and Jackson Stampfli 5.5 yards each time he touches the ball. That's a lot of rushing firepower and it's bolted the Eagles to a 4-0 start.

The rushing yards have also led to Eagle scoring 42 points per game prompting the question how can Mountain View even hope to stop this Eagle rushing machine?

Then again Mountain View has a few positives in their corner. The 3-1 Mavericks have played a tougher early season schedule including a loss to No.1 Rocky Mountain and a win over Capital. They've been able to negotiate that schedule averaging 32 points per game while giving up just 16 a contest.

Eagles schedule has been slightly easier with their four opponents having a combined 5-11 record heading into week 5 of the season. This really is the first major test for Eagle who doesn't have to face top ranked Rocky Mountain until October 18th.

Bottom line tonight's Eagle-Mountain View game is a push for me, an even steven who wants it more showdown!

Join me at 7p.m. on 630 The Fan, there's a reason this is the McDonald's Game of the Week!
