Former Rocky Mountain High school standout running back, Nick Romano is making his case for a starting position at running back for the Idaho Vandals.

The former 5A Player of the Year scored on a pair of touchdown passes in a scrimmage this past week and according to head coach Paul Petrino made a couple of great runs as well.

Petrino stopped short of predicting a starting role for Romano pointing out there is a lot of competition at that position both with incoming freshman and veterans.

None the less Romano has been impressive to the point he will most certainly get some reps at some point during the season.

It remains to be seen if Romano will make the travel squad for the Vandals season opener at Penn State August 31st, a game you can hear on Sports Radio 630 the Fan, 12:30 p.m. pregame show and 1:30pm kickoff.
