NFL players went to their knees during the National Anthem and took Papa John's down with them.

Long time NFL sponsor Papa John's, more specifically founder John Schnatter and the NFL have cut ties and Pizza Hut has moved in as the leagues official sponsor.

Schnatter said Papa John's profits were way down because of the way the NFL handled players kneeling during the National Anthem. The protests claim's Schnatter led to fewer people watching the NFL and fewer people eating pizza.

Pizza Hut sliced through the friction, promised more toppings and now Pizza Hut is the "go to" and "to go" pizza sponsor for the NFL.

Papa John's says not to worry, they still have a piece of the action with individual marketing deals with 22 of the 32 NFL teams.

It's a deep dish of NFL politics with some cheesy behind the scene deals but the fact is...when the NFL snaps the ball in 2018, it'll be on a new signal...Pizza Hut, Hut, Hut!
