The College Basketball Season Has Arrived

Another season of round ball is here. The Idaho Vandals open play tonight hosting Central Washington in an exhibition game and Friday the College of Idaho opens the season for real with a game at Montana Western and then Saturday at Montana Tech.

This is the earliest season opening game ever for the Coyotes who were 31-6 last year and are ranked second in the preseason Cascade Conference poll.

Next week Boise State joins the fun as they host West Coast Baptist October 31st. The Broncos first real game is a dandy October 9th at Oregon. The Ducks are ranked 15th in the AP preseason poll.

There is no doubt the seasons are changing, even as football starts the home stretch.

AP has already released its first Top 25 College basketball poll and it includes some familiar teams. Michigan State is the preseason number one followed by Kentucky, Kansas, Duke and Louisville.

Utah State of the Mountain West is 17th, the only Mountain West team in the Top 25 and the only Mountain West team to received votes.
