Call it a back door sweep, call it a reverse sweep, either way the Idaho Steelheads, on life support last week down 3 games to none in the ECHL series with the Allen Americans, somehow won 4 in a row to take the series 4 games to 3.

Idaho beat Allen 4-1 Wednesday night to become only the second team in ECHL history to come back from a 3-0 deficit, the other was Cincinnati in 2010.

If you are looking for what made the difference it was defense! Idaho gave up 13 goals in the first three losses, that's 4.33 goals per game, compared to 6 goals in the final four games, a 1.5 per game average.

For the second straight game and for just the second time the entire series, the Steelheads struck first with a goals at 10:06 of the first period last night and never trailed.

Idaho led 2-0 in the third period when Allen finally cracked the Idaho net to make it 2-1 however a pair of empty net goals sealed the deal and Idaho is headed to the next round of the Kelly Cup playoffs to face Colorado game 1 Saturday in Loveland.
