Saturday will mark Idaho’s first Big Sky Conference football game since Nov. 18, 1995 when Idaho beat Boise State 33-13 in Moscow.

In fact, during the 1995 season Idaho beat several ranked FCS (1-AA) teams to earn a number 17 national ranking and qualify for the playoffs for the 11th time.

Idaho finished the 1995 season with three straight wins over ranked teams, 13th ranked Northern Arizona, No.15 Northern Iowa and the 16th ranked BSU Broncos. The Vandals moved to No.17 but was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs losing to No.1 McNeese State.

The Vandals moved to FBS in 1996, playing in the Big West from 1996-2000, the Sun Belt from 2001-04, the WAC from 2005-12, as an independent in 2013 and most recently in the Sun Belt from 2014-17.

The Vandals now head back to the future this Saturday against UC Davis coached by former Boise State coach Dan Hawkins. The Aggies are 2-1 and will be favored come Saturday.

The only other meeting between Idaho and UC Davis was in 1997 with the Vandals winning 44-14 in Moscow.
