Week one is finally here for Mountain West football teams and for the league the season didn't start out on all cylinders!

UC Davis of the Big Sky, coached by former Boise State and Colorado coach Dan Hawkins, outlasted San Jose State 44-38. San Jose State led 14-7 but once UC Davis took the lead the Spartans never got any closer than 37-31.

Tonight could be especially tough on the Mountain west with Utah State @ Michigan State, Colorado @ Colorado State, San Diego State @ Stanford and Portland State @ Nevada.

Tomorrow the most intriguing game will be Boise State @ Troy. Both are reigning conference champions and while the Broncos are ranked 22nd in the AP poll Troy is in the top 30 having received some votes. It will be a real tester for Boise State who is favored by 10.

Also tomorrow, Washington State @ Wyoming will tell us a lot about the Cowboys who host Boise State later this month.

Fresno State, who went 1-1 against Boise State last year, losing in the conference title game,  will host the Idaho Vandals now in the Big Sky. That game will be broadcast live at 7p.m. on sports radio 630 The Fan your home for Idaho Vandal football.

Finally in the Mountain West, UNLV @ USC,  Navy @ Hawaii and Stony Brook @ Air Force.
